Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his support for Pakistan’s inclusion in the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Initiative, a joint effort by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO).
In a post on his X account, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s progress in digital transformation, stating that the country is reaching new milestones. He also reiterated his government’s commitment to creating a digital-friendly investment environment to promote economic growth.
Pakistan was the first nation to volunteer for the initiative, leading to the launch of the Digital FDI-Enabling Project in 2022.
According to a WEF report, the project team identified key actions for development, tailored to Pakistan’s unique socioeconomic conditions, regulatory environment, and digital landscape.
